1. Awakening in the Terminal
Meet your shell & find your identity
"You have just plugged into the x0-OS Cyber Console. A blank cursor blinks in the dark, waiting for your first command. Let's find out who you are in this machine."
What is a Terminal & Shell?
A **terminal** is your window into the operating system. Inside it runs a **shell** (a command translator). When you type letters and hit Enter, the shell translates your words into system calls that the CPU executes.
Think of the shell like a spaceship flight console. Instead of pushing physical levers, you send text commands to navigate.
Command 1: Who Am I?
In Linux, every action is performed under an identity. Run `whoami` to print your current username. Most tasks start here to see if you are a normal user or the almighty `root` superuser.
$ whoami
💡 Tip: Commands in Linux are case-sensitive! Always type in lowercase.
Command 2: Inspecting the Engine
To see what processor architecture powers your machine, run `uname -m`. You will see `x86_64` (64-bit Long Mode silicon).
$ uname -m
